Yuma Hamfest February 27-28, 2026 - Yuma County Fairgrounds

Buzzard BBQ

The Buzzard BBQ, which began with the first Yuma Hamfest in 2005, remains an annual tradition. We were shocked the first year when we had well over a hundred people line up for a Southern-style BBQ. Our dinner features BBQ Pulled Pork with a full size bun, 1/4 BBQ Chicken, Apple Slaw, Ranch Style Beans, and Macaroni & Cheese. For your sweet tooth, Bread Puddin' for desert. You have a choice of soda or bottled water with your meal. No one leaves hungry!! The BBQ event was named after the old buzzard himself, Scott Seamans, W7RFI, the founder of the Yuma Hamfest. At left is a rare photo of Scott, who looks even worse in the morning.

The Buzzard BBQ is Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. and is located in the Theatre Building

If you've never been to our Hamfest before, this is the one part of the event you do not want to miss because of the fun and the prize giveaways. The BBQ, which does not actually involve buzzards in any way is professionally catered by a Yuma favorite,  The Smokin Hen House. We limit the number of dinners to 320. Tickets are also available for purchase Friday and Saturday during the hours the Hamfest is open.

Immediately following the BBQ, we conduct the PRIZE GIVAWAYS that we have become noted for, including Door Prizes, Admission Prizes and the Grand Prizes.
